Formula Futures: From Nerds Watching Cars go in Circles to Creating an Impact

I’m Srinath Krishnan, and my passion for Formula 1 was sparked in the most ordinary place—a school lounge where friends and I watched every Grand Prix we could. Over time, those screen-side thrills evolved into Formula Futures, a club devoted to teaching elementary students about chemistry, physics, and materials science through the exciting lens of F1.

We started small, a handful of volunteers creating simple, hands-on experiments that mimic real motorsport principles. Before we knew it, we were bringing lessons on aerodynamics, fuel chemistry, and material strength into classrooms across TUSD. Kids discovered that science isn’t just for labs—it lives on the track, in every pit stop and hairpin turn.

By sharing our love of racing, we’ve unleashed a wave of curiosity in young minds. Through fast cars and big dreams, Formula Futures continues to show that with the right spark, classroom lessons can go full throttle. The journey from a few fans huddled around a TV to an official school club has been nothing short of electrifying—and we’re just getting started!
